The Rock as seen from Zippers Restaurant

Costa Azul is a beach area that lies at the foot of Palmilla Point almost into San Jose Del Cabo. It is known for its almost surreal blue water and is sometimes excellent surf. Visiting by ship is no problem as taxis will take you to Costa Azul and also return to pick you up to get you back to the ship.

Hanging Out at the Beach in Front of Zippers Restaurant

Costa Azul offers a beach front palapa restaurant known as Zippers (named after the famed surf spot at Costa Azul) . Zippers offers excellent food, great drinks, a casual bar area and a great beach to hang out on. There are usually very few (if any) cruise passengers at Costa Azul or Zippers Restaurant.

Zippers Zipping

One of the main reasons to come here is to enjoy the surf spots. Zippers is a fast right point with a rock and sand bottom that is usually crowded, but worth the effort to get waves. The Rock, is another break that breaks right over a reef and can offer long rides with steep walls. Note that the inside reef is SHALLOW and sharp. The takeoff point is right next to the exposed rock.

There is a surf shop across the street in the strip mall (sort of) and also provision as well. The beach is wide and long and offers solitude and peace and quiet. If you want a true Baja beach experience, Costa Azul is your place
