Karen Knowlton I chose the whale-watching “shore” excursion offered by Royal Caribbean. It lasted 2 ½ hours and was an excellent choice, as well as a good value (cost was about $50 per person). The excursion took place on a 2-deck open-air boat, very spacious and clean, with clean restrooms onboard as well. The crew was pleasant and friendly, and served soft drinks to any who wanted them. They even made sure we had the opportunity to see as much as possible; noticing the top deck was full, and that some of us had difficulty seeing the whales, they told some of us that we could see from the bottom deck, but no one was there (and they were right!) Our bilingual guide was excellent, well-informed and friendly, and answered any questions that were asked. We found a good number of gray whales, and at one point were surrounded by them! On the way back, we paused by the famous rock arch (El Arco) to allow for photographs. I highly recommend this excursion. Ever thought of becoming a part time or home based travel agent?
